Ask your AI assistant what's down: Zharp and MCP

Zharp runs a Model Context Protocol server, so Claude, Cursor and other assistants can read your monitors and incidents and answer questions about them — read-only, one workspace at a time.

More and more engineering work happens in a conversation with an AI assistant. When something breaks, the natural question — what's down, and since when? — shouldn't need a context switch to another tab. With Zharp's MCP server, your assistant can answer it directly.

What MCP is

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to the tools and data you already use. An MCP server describes a set of tools; an assistant that speaks MCP — Claude, Cursor, VS Code and others — can call them when your question needs them.

What Zharp's MCP server can do

It's read-only: an assistant can look at one workspace's monitors and incidents, but never create, change, acknowledge or resolve anything. It has five tools:

  • get_status_overview — how many monitors are in each status, which are down, and the open incidents.
  • list_monitors — monitors with their status, type, target and last check, filterable by status.
  • get_monitor — one monitor's settings, 24-hour and 7-day uptime, open incidents and recent check results.
  • list_incidents — incidents, newest first, with status, root cause and the affected monitor.
  • get_incident — one incident in full: who acknowledged and resolved it, the post-mortem if there is one, and the timeline.

Things to ask

  • "What's down in Zharp right now?"
  • "Summarise this week's incidents on the payments API."
  • "Has the checkout monitor been flaky in the last day?"
  • "What was the root cause of yesterday's outage?"

Connecting it

In the dashboard, go to Integrations & API → MCP and add a client for your assistant (the workspace owner can do this). Each assistant gets its own token, so you can cut one off without touching the others. Zharp then shows a ready-to-paste snippet for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or VS Code with the token already in it. The token is tied to one workspace, only works with the MCP server, and can only read. The MCP docs cover each assistant.

MCP is included on every plan, Free included.

Try it on your own services

The Free plan includes 25 monitors, alerts to every integration and a status page. No card needed.
